AAFS and all the great leaders and organizations in attendance were able to exchange dialogue and come together as a community to stand up for humanity. In order to create change, we must reach out to our elected officials and stand up for our concerns. Change starts with us. We mustn’t forget that.
With teamwork and commitment to providing only the best to our community members at large, we thrive to show everyone how important it is to unite and collaborate with one another. Being at the forefront, on the ground and out there helping our community is a key factor to breaking any barriers we have with one another. And it’s something we at Arab American Family Services pride ourselves with the continuous engagement we have with our community as a whole. Together we can accomplish anything if we have the heart and will to do so.
In a world where women are often pressured not to speak out against the atrocities they’ve faced, this documentary features fearless women from Palestine, on a journey of empowerment and expressive freedom. Duma follows these women who were sexually assaulted by friends and family members as they speak out against the taboos that once imprisoned them.
International Women’s Day is on Wednesday, March 8, 2017, this year. Attendees will be moved as they listen to these inspirational activists who strive to transform our communities into thriving, wells of knowledge and empowerment.
Arab American Family Services is a non-profit organization that caters to community members and their needs. We believe knowledge is power and with our assistance, our clients walk out more knowledgeable and empowered than before.
