Arab American Family Services is proud of our partnership with the Salvation Army. In times of hardship and difficulty, the staff at AAFS reaches out to other resources to better serve the client.
In this instance, one of the AAFS caseworkers reached out to the Salvation Army, at first calling the general assistance hotline to see if the Salvation Army would be able to assist the client by covering the cost of her ComEd bill.
Within an hour, AAFS received a callback from one of the site representatives at the Southwest Suburban Metropolitan of Chicago Salvation Army chapter. They were ready to help out not just the client of our’s with her ComEd bill, but granted AAFS an opportunity to partner with the Salvation Army giving us the privilege of becoming a Site Extension branch of the Salvation Army so that we can help families experiencing crises with a small Emergency Assistance Fund.
This partnership will help many vulnerable families who don’t have any other means of relieving the financial burdens they face. It will also hopefully bring new resources for the upcoming holiday season. So far, nine clients have been able to benefit from these wonderful services.
