At AAF, we strive to eliminate stereotypes that surround the Arab and Muslim community.
We have had several mainstream clientele who came into Arab American Family Services with misconceptions about Arab and Muslim portrayal in the media.
On many occasions, we have been complimented on how respectful we are and how the clients that walk through the door always feel welcome, respected, and given excellent services.
Clients are always impressed with our professional demeanor and the idea we are all Muslim women. This in itself changed the negative stereotyping of Muslim women.
They like our services and feel they are treated as a human being, rather than a number, which they say is how they are treated by other organizations. They tell us that other social service organizations they have visited have not made them feel welcome and respected. They were surprised at the level of hospitality we offered and now feel this is their home for assistance.
That’s what makes AAFS feel special.
