AAFS Joins ICADV in Springfield to Discuss Domestic Violence

Arab American Family Services was in Springfield on May 20 and May 22, in support of the Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence, discussing leadership and strategic planning to put an end to this issue of domestic violence.
Issues discussed included leadership and self empowerment, as well as training, education and additional resources to help deal with the issue. AAFS is an active member of ICADV and serves on the leadership development committee. Every three months, members gather in Springfield to discuss issues in domestic violence and work to come up with a viable solution to wipe out domestic violence in the state and across the country.
Ideas that are discussed at these trainings are then brought to legislators and lawmakers who hear concerns. This year’s focus was how to create future diverse leaders in the field of domestic violence.
Together, we can put an end to the epidemic of domestic violence.
