AAFS and Life Span Discuss Victim's Rights in Domestic Violence and Divorce

Arab American Family Services is proud to be partnered with Life Span, an organization that provides comprehensive services for women and children enabling them to stay together without violence, and help women eliminate the abuse from their lives, build upon their strengths, and become self-sufficient.
Life Span attorney Nour Bahrani Otremba was on hand at AAFS to discuss family law in Illinois and give a legal discussion on women’s rights through divorce, as well as child support and other issues faced during divorce. In addition to discussing divorce, Otremba also discussed a woman’s rights in dealing with domestic violence, as well as legal advocacy that protects a women’s rights during issues related to domestic violence.
AAFS is working hard to try to raise awareness of domestic violence and encourage victims to take a stand against the issue.
Domestic violence continues to be a stigma issue throughout the Arab American community. But with the proper instruction, information and guidance, victims who have turned to AAFS have began to try to break the cycle and seek help.
The domestic violence department of AAFS has been taught the basics to the most complex issues in relation to domestic violence. They are trained in handling situation involving spouses, children and other family members who are also victims.
