AAFS Attends White House’s Violence Against Women Act 30-Year Anniversary

Itedal Shalabi, co-founder and executive director of AAFS, attended the 30-year Anniversary of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) last month at the White House. The VAWA delivers vital resources to families impacted by gender-based violence, including crisis centers, housing, training to law enforcement, attorneys and more.

“We were happy to stand with our peers across the nation to honor the work the federal government has done to provide support for women and children in crisis,” Shalabi said. “On this important anniversary, we urge our government to enact policies across all agencies that support marginalized communities worldwide. At AAFS, and we are proud to offer a one-stop-shop of comprehensive care management and social services, while also educating the community about healthy family dynamics, and empowering survivors.”
