Community Leaders Earn Certificate Through Immigrant Health Academy

Ten representatives from AAFS received a certification along with other community leaders through the Immigrant Health Academy program.

Ten Arab American community leaders earned a certification this past June, having completed the year-long Immigrant Health Academy Program sponsored by Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights. The program is designed to prepare community members to be health care advocates and leaders, with information sessions including Know Your Rights, how to apply for public benefits, and how to find health insurance. There are six training sessions throughout the year. Participants are encouraged to educate and empower their communities about health care through attending events, and sharing information with families and friends in person and on social media. Click here to view more photos on Facebook!
