On Wednesday, June 1, 2016 Arab American Family Services, in conjunction with the Epilepsy Foundation, hosted an epilepsy and seizure training session from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at our office located on 9044 S. Octavia in Bridgeview. Over 25 attendees came to the event to learn more about this illness.

Akthar has been an Education Coordinator with the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago since 2011. She is also a Master Trainer in Diversity & Cross Cultural Awareness. She is a graduate of Loyola University Chicago, where she earned a B.B.A. in accounting, and in 2010 she earned her M.P.H. from the University of Illinois-Chicago, focusing on culturally sensitive approaches to health care. She has over 10 years of experience as a health educator in a variety of settings and is passionate about educating communities with health information to individuals live empowered and informed lives.
