AAFS: Trying to Raise Alzheimer's Disease Awareness

It’s an unfortunate illness that effects many Arabs and Muslims in our communities. Alzheimer’s disease is an issue and although it remains a stigma to many, to ignore the signs and battle it alone is difficult and takes a toll, not just on the victim, but their family as well.
On Friday, Arab American Family Service co-founder Nareman Taha will be speaking at the Chicago’s Alzheimer’s Association, addressing ways to work with the Arab community to help raise awareness about the condition.
Issues that will be discussed include ways to work with families in denial, as well as how to learn the warning signs of Alzheimer’s. You do not have to face it alone. There is assistance in dealing with a loved one with Alzheimer’s.
