On March 8, Arab American Family Services was honored to give a cultural competency training for the nurses of MacNeal Hospital on 3249 S Oak Park Ave, Berwyn, IL 60402.
The informational training was to help educate nurses on how to be culturally aware of situations involving Arab and Muslim patients. AAFS co-founder Itedal Shalabi spoke more about dietary needs for Muslim needs, as well as cultural awareness with what a patient may or may not be comfortable with.
There were over 40 nurses in attendance, as well as the hospital chaplain and members from the mental health and behavior department.
We hope this will be the beginning of a wonderful relationship with health care providers in our community.
Thank you to MacNeal Hospital for this wonderful opportunity.
