Arab American Family Services is proud when members of the community take part in honoring their mission, vision and goals. For the second year in a row, AAFS, in collaboration with the Chicago Metropolitan Battered Women’s Network, took part in the Chicago Marathon under in part with Run Domestic Violence Out of Town.
The CMBWN has come together with nine of its domestic violence member organizations and two affiliates to collaboratively raise funds for domestic violence service.
As part of the event, there is a 5k walk/run, along with the half marathon and finally, the 26.2 run, the Chicago Marathon.
This year, AAFS co-founders Nareman Taha and Itedal Shalabi, took part in the 5k walk/run. AAFS supporters, Hamza Salim, helped raise $500 for domestic violence services, as he ran the half marathon. Adham Sahloul, who ran all 26.2 miles, went above his goal to raise $1,500, bringing in over $1,800 for domestic violence programs.
We are proud of our friends and supporters of AAFS, who help us continue to take part in programs that help shape the Arab American community, and raise awareness on issues that effect us all.
Thank you.
