AAFS to Attend the International Summit & Training on Violence, Abuse & Trauma

Here is a short summary of the conference that AAFS is presenting at in San Diego, California on August 22nd.
In 2014, DePaul university contacted Arab American Family Services and asked them to be part of a study conducted by the social work department. The study is titled “Arab Women and Domestic Violence: Implications for Practice and Cultural Awareness”
For the study, DePaul asked to interview 25 domestic violent survivors from the Arab American Community.
After completing mandatory certification to interview clients for the study, AAFS  domestic violence victim advocate, Khadijah Khudeira was able to contact clients to come in and complete the survey that was provided by DePaul.
Clients were offered a cash stipend on $16 for participating in the study. Each client interview was 1.5 hours long. Each interview was translated and transcribed into English.
Now that the study is complete, AAFS co-founder Itedal Shalabi and Khudeira will be traveling to San Diego to attend the 20th International Summit & Training on Violence, Abuse & Trauma.
We look forward to this wonderful event and will keep you updated.
