AAFS Domestic Violence Department Praised by Former Clients

The staff at Arab American Family Services is dedicated and supportive to their clients. Each client has a unique story. As a social services organization, many of our clients have complex stories; many come to us when they feel no one else will listen or help. As difficult as it is to say, our clients come to us when they feel they are at their wits end.
Our domestic violence department has seen clients from all walks of life. At AAFS, the goal to to offer assistance to every client that seeks it. And one thing we never do is give up.
The simple things are what matters in life. As the saying goes, sometimes knowing you are appreciated is the best gift you can give someone. With the cases we see, the least we can do is offer a lending hand and an ear to listen to someone who feels that the world has shut them out.
Our clients returning with a success story is what makes up happy for what we do, especially in our domestic violence department.
Recently, a client returned with one of the nicest gifts we can receive, a “thank you.”
She returned to simply tell our department thank you for always supporting her and listening to her when she speaks.
She had come in for help and in return, she ended up making the domestic violence staff happy they met her.
“I am grateful to have met her,” said Fatimeh Hussien, domestic violence advocate at AAFS.
‘She told me that it took her many years to make the decision to not be a victim anymore and that she will do whatever it takes not to live in fear anymore,” Hussien said.
The client said she knows she has a long road ahead of her, but she will succeed in getting her life back together and said she knows she can do it with the staff of AAFS by her side.
This is what keeps us doing what we do at AAFS. Hearing the success stories that walk through the door make it all worth while.
