At Arab American Family Services, we are always working on trainings that will keep our staff up to date with all the changes in public policy. This morning, AAFS had a training hosted by Fred Tsao, Policy Director at the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights. The seminar was to discuss Comprehensive Immigration Reform and the issues that are ongoing in Congress.
Two issues discussed were the Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents (DAPA) and the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and the requirements that are needed to inform our citizenship clients.
AAFS staff were given the tools and training for the Illinois is Ready Administrative Relief Reform, which seeks to fix issues in the United States that have to do with the immigration system.
On June 30, 2014, President Obama announced that in the absence of Congressional action on Comprehensive Immigration Reform, he will seek to make changes.
At AAFS, we strive to gain the knowledge we need in order to continue to inform our clients on the changes taking place in our country.
