Arab American Family Services and Muslim Against Hunger, are working together for a great cause. On Friday, December 5, the two organizations came together at the AAFS office located on 9044 S. Octavia in Bridgview, and prepared sandwiches and salads to be distributed to 150 individuals. Staff and volunteers came together for this unique opportunity in keeping up with the tradition of helping the community and giving back.
Zamir Hassan is the founder of Muslims Against Hunger. He has spent over a decade modifying and expanding his organization, which is now working it’s way throughout the country. Recently, Muslims Against Hunger developed the Hungervan.

The Hungervan project’s goal is to bring food to where the need is and is not necessarily where the resource is. There are many feeding projects that use local volunteer facilities that prepare and distribute the meals on the premises. Currently, Hungervan is traveling in Newark, Peterson and Trenton, New Jersey as well as Manhattan, New York, Boston, Massachusetts, Chicago, Illinois, Bridgeport, Connecticut and Washington, D.C.
