AAFS: Giving Hope Where Hope May Be Lost

Recently, a new client had come to Arab American Family Services to apply for elderly services. Unfortunately, he was missing all of his legal documents. The client was in distress. He had not been able to get over the loss of his son, and being overcome with sadness, his health had began to deteriorate. He needed to seek medical help but was able to due to his missing documents.
But the elderly caseworkers at AAFS would not give up. They were able to help him get benefits from the government, such as food stamps and the Medical Card. We also helped him reapply for his Green Card using a fee waiver. Shortly thereafter, we were able to help him fill out his application to become a United States Citizen.
The greatest aspect of our job at AAFS is working together as a team, and the support we are given from our fellow caseworkers, regardless of how hectic the day may be, or how much workload we have building up on our desks.
It was this team work that changed this man’s life.
The personal touch we give our clients in showing them that we indeed care about them and follow up with them, as well as help them in all the possible ways.
This is what makes AAFS so unique and special. We do not treat you like a number, to us, we treat you like family.
