On Thursday, July 24, Yahala Voice and Arab American Family Services were proud host an iftar to give back to the community.
The iftar was a unique, successful evening that brought together friends and community members from every race, religion and nationality. For a great cause, the Iftar for Charity allowed for 150 families who had fallen on hard times, to come together and enjoy a wonderful meal and feel connected to a community that genuinely cares. This was a chance for families in need and donors to come together and meet.
“Tonight’s dinner was the core element of what Ramadan should be,” said Nareman Taha, co-founder of AAFS. “It was very thoughtful to be able to break bread with our community members,” she said. “You feel a sense of community and kids and adults have a chance to feel like they are part of a community that supports them,” she said.
The dinner was sponsored by Taaza2U, which offers Halal meat home delivery.
Sunday marks the final day of Ramadan, with Eid al-Fitr taking place on Monday, July 28.
